The 2020 Women and Transport Africa Conference is the 3rd in a series of annual conferences organized by Flone Initiative. The 2018 conference was held in Nairobi, Kenya and the 2019 conference was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Given the COVID-19 pandemic situation, the 2020 Women and Transport Conference will be an online virtual conference.
The 2020 conference seeks to reiterate the importance of creating a more inclusive public transport system in Africa. The purpose of the conference is to stimulate thinking and research on transportation issues central to women’s quality of life in Africa. The idea is to look backwards, take stock of what has been accomplished and explore methods of translating research into practice.
The conference will cover four thematic areas:
Inclusive and sustainable public transport systems; Increasing career options for women in public transport; Securing the future of public transport with technology; and Environment

Call for Contributions
We would like to invite submissions for presentations in either the research or practitioner sessions of the 2020 Women and Transport Africa Conference.
You are invited to submit a short summary (500 words max) of what you would like to present on including a title and the contact details of the presenter, organization or institution; Please indicate your preference for either the lived experience, research or policy and program session; Please also indicate your preferred session theme and overall conference theme; Inclusive and sustainable public transport systems Increasing career options for women in public transport Securing the future of public transport with technology Environment COVID-19 Please include a picture and short biography (no more than 150 words) of yourself; Please indicate if you have any innovative/creative ways of presenting your work (creative methodologies or organizational models, documentaries, photo exhibitions, theatre, physical activity etc.) Please submit by 31st October, by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
